Fine-tuning an existing telework arrangement

If you already have an initiative in place but want to increase its effectiveness, increase the number of participants or overcome specific issues you are facing, it is a good idea to start by considering each of the nine steps presented under 'Specific steps' on this page. There could be issues that you have missed.

Your organisation could start by completing the benchmarking questionnaire. A report, including some suggestions that your organisation could follow, to improve the operation of your telework arrangements will be supplied.

It is likely, however, that the most important step that you should consider is to establish a steering committee and talk about how your telework arrangements are working. Following this meeting, you might want to clarify the initiative’s telework parameters and define an appropriate telework model to aim at. You will then be able to consider how much of the remaining steps in these better practice guidelines will be of value to you.

Given the benefits that a well-managed telework initiative can bring to your organisation, it is worth taking the time to get telework right.
