Benefits for the community

Telework is a way of working but everyone (and not just employers and their employees) can benefit. Telework as a flexible work arrangement has the potential to meet a number of economic, commercial, social and personal objectives.

Telework is a component of a sustainable economy.

Telework eliminates many contemporary challenges at their source. Traffic is only one example.

Telework can increase productivity. It can increase the possible contribution of every citizen to the local and national economy.

Telework can save money. Service delivery is more economical, infrastructure costs can be reduced and productivity can be increased.

Telework can also improve flexibility. Physical structures and traditional organisations are cumbersome and hard to change. Organisations based on location-independent concepts are far more flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing world.

Some telework strategies have the capacity to deliver remote learning options and potential work opportunities in remote communities. Telework provides a framework within which individuals in rural areas no longer have to leave their community to seek or perform paid work. This can provide benefits to the whole community.
